This Diwali, Follow These Vastu Decoration Ideas for Prosperity

Diwali is around the corner and you should also be feeling those wonderful vibes that we usually feel around this festival; home decoration, lighting, gifts and a lot more. But above all, this festival is about inviting prosperity at home. We worship the Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha to attract wealth, fortune, and prosperity. 

To make your Diwali more auspicious for you and your family, follow a few important Vastu tips of home décor to please the Lakshmi ji and Ganesh ji. 
 

Lighting of Home as per Vastu

Light up your house properly and splendidly. Brighten up the dark corners of the home. 

• Put up yellow or green colour lights on the main door in the North or Northeast direction of the house.
• For lighting the main entrance in the east direction, use yellow coloured lights.
• If the entrance is in the Southeast direction, use red coloured lights.
• The doors in the South or Southwest direction should be covered in red or blue lights.
• In the Northwest, the main colour of the light used should be blue. 

Making of Rangoli

Make Rangoli at the entrance to invite Goddess Lakshmi into your home. 

• Rangoli designs can be made with fresh flower petals or coloured powder. Using rock salt or ingredients like rice, vermillion, turmeric powder for rangoli is considered auspicious.
• The colours of rangoli should be used as per the colours of lighting mentioned in the first point.
• Avoid making rangoli in the south or west direction.
• Do not make Swastik or Om symbol in rangoli on the floor.
• In addition to the main entrance, rangoli can be made in the pooja room, dining or living room.

Main Door Decoration as per Vastu

Decorate the main entrance of the home nicely. 

• The main door should not make any creaking noise. Open the doors fully and clear all the clutter.
• Hang torans or bandarwal on the main door. Mango leaves and marigold flower torans symbolises good luck.
• Place diyas on both sides of the main entrance gate to welcome God.
• Make red footprints at the entrance to signify Goddess Lakshmi’s entry into the home, bringing wealth and happiness.

Placement of God Idols

Buy new god idols of Lakshmi Maa and Ganesh Ji for the Diwali Pujan.

• The idol of Ganesh Ji should be on the left side of the idol of Lakshmi Maa.
• North is the realm of Kuber, position Goddess Lakshmi Idol in North.
• Place the God Idols on a new piece of red cloth.
• Perform Laxmi Pujan facing North/East direction.

Home Decor as per Vastu

A few more home decoration tips as per Vastu for enhancing fortune and good luck.

• Put a vessel of water with floating flowers and candles in the Northeast direction of the home for luck.
• Decorate the pooja room and other areas of the house with diyas.
• Lit diyas in multiples of four as they represent Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesh, Lord Kuber, and Lord Indra.
